Description
A fantastic discovery and wonderful view to nature. This Cardinal family was found nesting outside the window of our home in a tall holly bush nestled up against the end of our house. Luckily for me, the location provided the perfect, and rare opportunity to view and photograph them more closely. I was able to obtain this unbelievably wonderful capture by placing the camera on the window sill, while keeping myself hidden from view behind the blinds covering the window. This particular moment captures the brightly colored, red male cardinal, perched above the minimally cloaked hatchlings ready to offer the latest catch. Northern Cardinals, also often referred to as "redbirds", are most common in the southeast of the United States, but can be found as far north as Canada. The northern cardinal is the state bird of seven states, they include the states of North Carolina, West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Virginia.
